🤓 What is blue light?

"Blue light" is light with a wavelength between 380 and 500 nanometers and is composed of different shades of blue, ranging from turquoise to violet. It is emitted by the Sun but also by artificial light sources such as all screens or LED bulbs.

The shade that reaches the retina is called blue-violet light and this is the one that risks having an impact on your visual comfort, as it is close to ultraviolet radiation, which is known to be dangerous for our eyes... Screens, in particular, emit peaks of blue-violet light called High Energy Visible light.

🤓 The effects of light on our eyes

Scientific research has shown that prolonged exposure to blue light radiation or artificial HEV light would cause photochemical lesions of the retina and lens... If you do not protect yourself against this blue light, several symptoms may appear.

In the short term, we may experience glare, tingling, blurred vision, difficulty with accommodation, dry and irritated eyes, eye strain...

In the medium term, migraines, headaches, mood disorders, attention problems, and sleep disturbances may appear.

However, in the long term, if you do not protect yourself and are exposed intensely and daily, you run the risk of contracting age-related macular degeneration (AMD) or aggravating it if you already suffer from it.
